John Walker's exposure to the Infant Printed Circuit Industry commenced in1954 when he joined Photo Printed Circuits Ltd, a newly established organisation in Bisley,Surrey whose method of Circuit production was based on photographic techniques. Even in these early days the company was experimenting in the production of  printed components such as Resistors, Inductors and Capacitors. 
Subsequent to this he moved about in the newly formed Industry to  gain experience and during this period he was awarded a Patent describing a method of “Hole filling” to protect copper in drilled holes prior to printing and etching. His ultimate post was as Group Marketing Director of the Nevin Group. John Walker was, in 1974, a Founder Member of the Institute of Circuit Technology and soon after became a Fellow. For two consecutive years he served as ICT Chairman subsequent to this he was elected Honorary Secretary of the Institute.
