We were blessed with superb weather for the 17th occasion of our Golf Day held at The Wiltshire Golf and Country Club for the 5th consecutive year.

A wide selection of PCB individuals took part in this annual event. This is now the only PCB social event on the calendar and it was very satisfying to see a growing number of non golfing guests attend the celebration dinner in the evening.

We gathered at 11.30 for a buffet lunch with the first Tee off times commencing at 12.30. As usual the format was a pairs 4 ball better ball with a random draw of teams being held the day before.

David Jones and Bill Wilkie volunteered to run the sweepstake for players to select and wager on the possible winning pair. Photographer of the day, John Burgess was on hand to record the event and has many candid shots taken of the teams and players on the course.

We are particularly grateful to our sponsors who help towards the dinner and prizes. Lloyd Doyle again provided the main prizes and Peter Coakley was available to present the trophies to the winners.

In first place were David Jones and Alan Slade with 48 points. Second place were Graham Temple and Howard Brown with 43 points who just beat Nick Heesom and Angus Brunton on a count back.

Nearest the pin on the 9th was won by Robert Brown and nearest the pin on the 14th was won by John Caldwell. The longest drive on the 9th was by David Fitzgerald. Norman Fergusson was awarded the Duffer's prize for having the stamina to take 9 off the tee on one of the Wiltshire's more challenging holes.

The sponsors are an essential part of our day and I am particularly grateful to acknowledge the support provided by Lloyd Doyle, ACS, Atotech, Chestech, Electra, Eurotech, Electrochemicals, Invotec, Isola, Lamar, MPK Kemmer, Schloetter, Shane Consultants, Technic and Ventec Laminates.

The sweepstake was shared by 5 winners and the spot the ball competition was embarrassingly won by me. No prior knowledge assured!

Absent Friends – Despite this being a large turnout we were missing some regular players who we toasted at dinner. Roy Lloyd, Brian Haken, John Ennis, Graham Thompson, Kelvin Leigh, Tony Baxter, Leigh Alinson and Ray Pitcher were not able to attend and we hope to see them next year.

Shown below is lot's more information. Thanks again to John Burgess for the pictures for the photo gallery. The full results are also shown together with the evening menu. I have provisionally booked Thursday 16th September for the 2010 Golf day. Hope to see you all there.
