Southern PCB Golf Day and Dinner

September 5th 2013

This was the 21st consecutive year that we have celebrated the Southern PCB Golf Day. The event has grown considerably from its golfing roots and is now a recognised social and networking event for PCB colleagues and friends.

We only had 18 golfers taking part this year. Our day started with bacon rolls and snack lunch in the club bar with golf commencing at 12.30.

It was a gloriously sunny day reaching 26deg out on the course. The fairways had improved considerably over last year but unfortunately the greens had been hollow tined a few days before our event.

We had 40 guests for our celebration dinner. We are again so grateful that Lloyd Doyle sponsored the main prizes. Roy Lloyd was with us this year to present the prizes.

Alistair Murray won “The Bernard Coles Cup” for the highest individual score with 42 points. This cup was presented by Maurice Hubert. This is an annual trophy and we remember Bernard for his contribution to the PCB industry and the many enjoyable golf days he spent with us.

The Southern PCB Morton Trophy pairs competition was a tight finish with 3 points separating the top 4 teams. Jake Kelly and Alistair Murray were clear winners with 46 points. Runners up on a countback were Nigel West and David Griffiths on 45 points. The Longest Drive competition was won by Jonathan Ford. The nearest the pin prizes were won by Stuart Hayton and Richard Wood-Roe.

After the prize giving we were again superbly entertained by Bill Wilkie with his observations and jokes. I am so grateful to Bill that he travels so far to be with us.

We had some marvellous gifts for our prize draw. Extra prizes were donated by Mike Partridge, Norman Fergusson, Nigel west and Kelvin Leigh.

My special thanks go to our sponsors which we all recognise make this day possible. They are listed on the menu below and we heartily toasted them at our celebration dinner. I hope to see many of you next year on 25th September 2014 at the Wiltshire.
